HS2: All three parties committed to HS2 in their manifestos. The Liberal Democrats
said that they would “proceed with HS2, HS3 and Crossrail 2, including
development of a high-speed network stretching to Scotland”. Labour, meanwhile,
said that it would “complete the HS2 high-speed rail line from London through
Birmingham to Leeds and Manchester, and then into Scotland, consulting with and,
where necessary, compensating) communities.” The Tories said that they will
“continue our programme of strategic national investments, including High Speed
2”. The SNP, meanwhile, said that connecting Scotland to High Speed Two must
be a priority.
